Mark your calendars for “Fire Service Day” — a family-friendly open house event — on Saturday, May 9 at Fire Station 1 on 7th Street.  Residents of all ages can mingle with Santa Monica’s Bravest, take pictures with emergency vehicles and even learn some handy life saving skills.  More information is available here.

 

Last call for The Misfit Bar 🙁

After 15 years in the historic Clock Tower building at 225 Santa Monica Boulevard, the beloved downtown spot will pull its last pint on Saturday night. Known for upscale comfort food, inventive cocktails, and lively atmosphere, The Misfit has been a cornerstone of the Third Street Promenade dining scene since opening in 2011.  In a statement on its website, owners attribute the closure to “lease issues and problems downtown.”  Currently 27% of properties on and around Third Street Promenade are vacant.  Read More

Jon Cryer is 61

Years before Cryer (04/16/65) won and Emmy for his role as Alan Harper on Two and a Half Men, he was beloved to teenage girls as Duckie in the John Hughes film Pretty in Pink.  He return to the New York stage next month in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
