John Adams Middle School (JAMS) is a public middle school located on the south side of Santa Monica.  It is one of three middle schools in the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District.  For the school year 2025-26, John Adams Middle School had an enrollment of 735 students in grades six to eight.  Approximately 36 percent identified as white, 45 percent as hispanic, nine percent as Asian and nine percent as African American.

John Adams Middle School — originally John Adams Junior High School — offers a variety of elective clubs and activities including Associated Student Body (ASB), flag football, cross country, volleyball and boys and girls basketball.  The district’s Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELOP) program runs afterschool arts and academic support at JAMS in partnership with the Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club on every school day. ELOP also supports Theatre 31 at JAMS, including an after‑school theatrical production each spring semester.

The original John Adams campus, built in 1913 at Los Amigos Park, was one of four Santa Monica schools demolished after suffering severe damage in the 1933 Long Beach earthquake. In 1935, the Works Project Administration (WPA) completed construction of a new Streamline Moderne–style campus

Most students at John Adams Middle School previously attended Will Rogers Elementary, Grant Elementary or John Muir Elementary.
