The world's richest man originally rented the property.

Call it a starter home… for a billionaire.

Elon Musk’s first Los Angeles mansion — a sprawling Bel-Air estate with seven bedrooms and a 1,000-bottle wine cellar — is back on the market. Asking price: $49.8 million.

The world’s first trillionaire first rented the 20,248 square foot palace at 10911 Chalon Road before finally becoming a first-time homeowner in 2012. He dropped $17 million, kicking off what would become a sprawling west coast real estate empire that included four additional Bel-Air homes.

Musk flipped the Chalon property in 2020 for $29 million to a buyer tied to Chinese billionaire William Ding.  The sale came shortly after the Tesla and SpaceX boss made a headline-grabbing Twitter pledge to “own no house.”

The private compound perched above the Bel-Air Country Club is now being pitched as fully upgraded and comes complete with sweeping city and ocean views. Its nearly $50 million price tag seems like a bargain compared to Santa Monica’s most expensive home, which remains on the market for $69 million.

Listed by Rayni Williams and Victoria Risko of The Beverly Hills Estates, Musk’s former abode sits on 1.67 acres and features a two-story library, pool, tennis court and enough outdoor space to host a rocket launch party.

It’s the kind of place where billionaires come to unwind — or at least park their Teslas.

At one point, Musk owned a string of high-end properties across the region worth more than $70 million.  His portfolio also included the neighboring Chalon Road property where actor Gene Wilder and his wife once lived.

Musk currently resides in Texas, splitting his time between a modest 400-square-foot, $50,000 Boxabl prefabricated house in Boca Chica (near the SpaceX Starbase) and a larger estate near Austin.
