Brentwood Eagles: History, football, championships, alumni

The Brentwood School Eagles are one of the Westside’s most established high school athletics programs. The Eagles compete in the Gold Coast League of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section alongside rivals like Crossroads, Rio Hodo Prep, Campbell Hall, and Windward.

Eagles football

The Brentwood Eagles varsity football team heads into the 2026 season with strong momentum after putting together a resilient 8–4 overall record last year in the CIF Southern Section Division 10. Under the steady leadership of Head Coach Jake Ford, now in his 12th season, the Eagles successfully navigated their way to the postseason. They secured a 13–3 victory against Portola in the first round of the playoffs before narrowly exiting in a heart-wrenching 13–14 battle against the Samohi Vikings. The 2026 squad will lean on an experienced defensive core, anchored by senior defensive standout Reed Langan and fellow veteran Enzo Longhi. But the Eagles will have to adapt to the departure of several highly impactful graduated senior leaders, including key piece Kayman Jackson. Coach Ford’s program faces its first major test of the season at home on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM against University High School.

Championships and milestones

Brentwood’s major athletic achievements are split into two completely different tiers: California State Titles (the highest level) and CIF Southern Section Championships (regional crowns). In some sports, like fencing, a state title is captured outright — meaning one team emerges as the best out of every high school in California that competes in that sport. Other sports, such as basketball and football, are broken into divisions with schools competing against others of similar size. In this case there may be multiple “state champions.” Here’s a breakdown of the school’s biggest milestones:

Cross-town rivals: The Roadrunners

No private school rivalry is bigger on the Westside than the Brentwood Eagles and the Crossroads Roadrunners. The intense crosstown feud is celebrated annually during a high-stakes, multi-sport event known as the “Sports Extravaganza,” where both schools compete for a coveted championship cup. The most recent showdown took place on January 16, 2026. Crossroads girls basketball team secured a thrilling 62–59 comeback victory after trailing by 13 points at halftime. The Roadrunners also dominated in boys basketball and soccer to claim the Extravaganza Cup for second straight year.
