SANTA MONICA NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS

Mid City Neighbors

Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors

Mid City Neighbors is one of seven neighborhood organizations in Santa Monica, serving residents in the city’s Mid-City.  Its goal is to help neighbors stay informed about the issues shaping local life. The group traces its roots to 1982 and remains an active, volunteer-run organization focused on advocacy, neighborhood communication, and civic engagement.

Mid City Neighbors describes itself as a network of friends, families, and neighbors working together to keep the community updated on issues affecting both the neighborhood and the city as a whole. Topics of concern include housing and development, traffic and parking, public safety, schools, homelessness, and the environment.

Mid City Neighbors holds monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month and continues to offer participation by Zoom to make meetings more accessible for community members. The group’s website also notes in-person meetings at the Colorado Center Community Room, giving neighbors a way to stay connected both online and in person.

The Mid-City neighborhood is generally described as the area between Wilshire Boulevard to the north, the Santa Monica Freeway to the south, Lincoln Boulevard to the west, and Centinela Avenue to the east. Within those boundaries, the organization works to represent neighborhood concerns and encourage participation in local decision-making.

Membership is open to community members, and officers serve one-year terms. Current membership options listed by the organization are Regular ($15), Family ($20), Senior/Student ($10), and Business ($100).
