SANTA MONICA NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS

Wilshire Montana Neighborhood Coalition (Wilmont)

The Wilshire Montana Neighborhood Coalition — better known as Wilmont — represents more than 23,000 residents in Santa Monica’s 90403 ZIP code and stands as one of the city’s largest neighborhood groups. Its footprint covers a broad stretch of the west side of Santa Monica, with boundaries generally described as Montana Avenue, Ocean Boulevard, Pacific Coast Highway, and 21st Court. The coalition is all volunteer-run, and while it welcomes formal members, it does not function like a traditional dues-based club with a rigid membership count.  Memberships are available at four levels: Individual ($10), Senior ($5), Family ($15) and Business ($30).

Meetings are open, free, and accessible to anyone who wants to participate.

Wilmont serves as a community forum where residents can stay informed, raise concerns, and weigh in on issues affecting their neighborhood. That includes everything from development and traffic to public safety and quality-of-life questions. The organization’s strength comes from local participation: a volunteer board helps guide the coalition, but the real energy comes from neighbors who show up to monthly meetings and stay engaged in the life of the community.

For those who want to join more formally, Wilmont offers nominal voluntary membership tiers to help support its operations. The group also includes business membership options and keeps a public presence online through its website and social channels. At its core, though, Wilmont is less about paperwork and more about neighborhood stewardship — a place where residents can stay connected, speak up, and help shape the future of their part of Santa Monica.
