The story is loosely based on Keys' teenage years in Manhattan.

A whole lot of New York soul is headed to Hollywood.

Alicia KeysHell’s Kitchen is a musical that hits like a great song you forgot you loved.  And it’s sliding into the Pantages Theatre for a limited run from May 26 through June 21.

Inspired by Keys’ own teenage years in 1990s Manhattan, this Broadway hit follows Ali, a stubborn, talented 17-year-old desperate to break out from under her overprotective mom. She’s got attitude, raw talent, and no clear direction — until a neighbor with a piano (and some wisdom) helps her start connecting the dots.

Hell’s Kitchen is part coming-of-age story, part love letter to New York, and part full-on Alicia Keys concert.  It’s about ambition, identity, and that complicated, can’t-live-with-you-can’t-live-without-you bond between a mother and daughter.

Visually, the show leans all the way in. The stage transforms into a living, breathing Manhattan high-rise—complete with scaffolding, layered apartments, and even musicians tucked into “windows” like they’re part of the building itself. It’s gritty, creative, and constantly in motion, just like the city that raised Keys.

And at the center of it all? A kitchen table, of course. Because no matter how big the dreams get, this story keeps coming back to home.

The show has already racked up major buzz, including a New York Times Critic’s Pick and multiple Tony wins, and now L.A. gets its turn with a fresh cast led by Maya Drake as Ali and Kennedy Caughell as Jersey.
