Bed Bath & Beyond

Bed Bath & Beyond is staging a brick and mortar comeback…with and unexpected twist.

The beloved retailer — which operated for decades on Olympic Boulevard near Bundy Drive — closed up the last of its 700-plus locations in 2023.  Now comes news that BB&B will return in a unique collaboration with The Container Store.

The 100 new stores will be branded “The Container Store / Bed Bath & Beyond,” company CEO Marcus Lemonis in a letter to shareholders.

“With an average footprint of approximately 21,000 square feet per store, these locations will feature a combination of merchandise across bed, bath, storage and organization, kitchen, and entertaining. More importantly, they will significantly expand their existing home services offering,” he added.

The closest locations to Santa Monica will be at Westfield Century City and on Sepulveda Boulevard in El Segundo.

The Container Store, which specializes in home organization supplies (think: bins, shelving, closet solutions) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024.  The company was recently purchased by Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. for $150 million earlier this month.

To make room for this glow-up, The Container Store has kicked off a major “Store Changing” event, offering around 30% off select items. Translation: it’s the perfect excuse to declutter and upgrade your space before the new goodies arrive.
