Olivia Rodrigo is cracking open her lovesick brain — and now fans can walk straight into the weird, wild cardboard hospital where it all went down.
Fresh off last weekend’s Daisy Chain Fields festival, the “drop dead” singer is scrubbing in at downtown L.A.’s Grammy Museum with “Olivia Rodrigo: the cure unraveled,” a trippy new exhibit opening Wednesday, Sept. 2.
“I grew up going to the Grammy Museum and their mission is especially important to me, so it’s a full circle moment to be able to work with them on this exhibit,” Rodrigo says. “It’s the perfect place to feature ‘the cure’ music video pieces that mean so much to me, as well as some incredibly special items from the past decade that we’re later adding that I’ve never shown before.”
The installation pulls back the curtain on the handmade mayhem behind her “the cure” video from her new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love — complete with a pint-sized operating room, twitchy animatronic hearts and enough felt guts to make a craft-store cashier blush.
Heartbreak, stat!
In the surreal clip, Olivia plays nurse in a fully fabricated hospital, desperately hunting for an antidote to her feelings while operating on fuzzy human hearts in the “OR.”
The whole off-kilter universe was made almost entirely by hand: cardboard walls, hand-painted details, miniature sets, stop-motion tricks and animatronic heart puppets. Think Grey’s Anatomy if the doctors had raided a kindergarten art room.
Fans can eyeball Olivia’s nurse costume from the shoot, the miniature operating room, the video’s beating felt heart and original storyboards. There are also behind-the-scenes snaps, handwritten notes, hand-stitched album artwork and interactive photo ops for anyone eager to get their own close-up in heartbreak hospital.

The exhibit is the first dose, not the full prescription. The Grammy Museum says a larger expansion packed with never-before-seen artifacts from the star’s career is scheduled to land in early fall.
Olivia will launch the exhibit tonight with a sold-out museum event featuring a live performance and a sit-down chat with filmmaker Cameron Crowe.
