St. Monica Prep didn’t just win Friday night’s contest against visiting Bosco Tech — they slammed the door shut before the concessions stand even ran out of hot dogs.
The Mariners dismantled the Tigers 48-0 at Corsair Field, mounting a relentless assault that began in the first three minutes of play.
Star quarterback Bradley Cassier took complete command early, throwing five touchdown passes in a single quarter to ignite the blowout. The D1-bound signal-caller opened the scoring with a 38-yard strike to Evan Benet. He followed up by connecting with Sergio Ortiz (7 yards), Aaron Minter (6 yards), Christopher Barnes (6 yards), and Martin Tate on a blistering 68-yard bomb, stretching the lead to 35-0 before the end of the first frame.
Benet added to his highlight tape by snatching a first-quarter interception, giving the offense another short field. St. Monica pushed the advantage to 42-0 in the second quarter when Jordan Johnson capped off a drive with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Arnold.
With a insurmountable lead established in short order, head coach Thomas Barnes pulled several of his best players early, letting Cassier and others rest up on the bench and avoid injury for the remainder of the night.
The depth players didn’t drop the tempo, maintaining absolute control over the game flow throughout a scoreless third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, running back Joshua Morris punctuated the dominant performance with a 6-yard rushing touchdown to lock in the final 48-0 shutout. Freshman Christian Ortiz sealed the victory late by falling on a Bosco Tech fumble to keep the clean sheet intact.
With the win, St. Monica improves to 4-1 on the season.
