California Governor Gavin Newsom
California may not be getting rid of Gavin Newsom after all.
The embattled governor appears poised to withstand next week’s recall election, a new poll finds.
As many as six in 10 likely voters say they are opposed to kicking Newsom to the curb, despite widespread crime, homelessness and a tanking economy.
The data is part of a study at the Institute of Governmental Studies at U.C. Berkeley.
“The findings underscore a significant change in tempo in the state,” IGS Co-Director, G. Cristina Mora told Fox News Friday.
A previous poll conducted just six weeks ago, showed almost half of Golden State residents in favor of a change in Sacramento.
Californians will head to the polls on Tuesday.
President Joe Biden is expected to campaign on behalf of Newsom on Monday.
Conservative talk show host Larry Elder appears to be the leading Republican challenger should Newsom be ousted.
