The 2024 Los Angeles Marathon included more than 26,000 participants — the second most in its 39 year history.
Approximately 40 percent of the field were first time marathon runners, according to Dan Cruz, the head of communications for event.
The youngest participants were 12 year-olds participating in a program called Students Run L.A. The oldest participant was Claude Bruni, an 87 year-old retired business owner.
The 26 mile race kicked off at 6:30 a.m. at Dodger Stadium with Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass serving as the official starter. The finish line was once again on Santa Monica Boulevard in Century City.
The City of Santa Monica had been the end point of the LA Marathon for over a decade, but the course was changed in 2021.
