A homeless man has been arrested in connection with a series of dumpster and trash can fires in Santa Monica.
Jonathan Powell, 28, was taken into custody early Sunday morning near the intersection fo 4th Street and Arizona Avenue.
Santa Monica Police Department says officers were dispatched to the scene around 3:45 a.m.

Powell “was positively identified as the suspect in one of the arsons and believed to be responsible for at least five others,” SMPD spokesperson Rudy Flores confirmed. “During a search of Powell’s person, officers located several lighters in his front pants pocket.”
Powell was charged with Arson and Delaying Arrest.
