Will the Boys in Blue be heroes of the holiday season…or come up short again?

With the City of Santa Monica putting outdoor skating on ice until next winter, many westsiders hoped the new Holiday Festival at Dodger Stadium — complete with a skating rink in center field — would be an instant home run.

But early reports of long lines and sky high prices suggest the temporary pop up could end up to be more of a swing and a miss.

Per the team’s official website: “The Los Angeles Dodgers are hosting a Holiday Festival in the beautiful, newly-renovated Centerfield Plaza, the warning track, and both bullpens complete with nightly entertainment, an ice skating rink, scenic and light displays, holiday themed food and beverage.”

But at $16 for admission, $15 for 30 minutes of skating and $40 for a picture with Santa, not everyone is impressed.

Twitter user Zoe Sloane told her followers: “I went tonight. 80$ plus parking for a truly mediocre experience and a nightmare drive to find the parking exit. Paid to skate, never skated. A real rip off “event”.

And on Yelp, user Javier G. commented:  “There is nothing but two inflatable jumpers. Also the ice skating rink is tiny and filled to the brim with people. You aren’t skating you’re taking tiny steps while trying to avoid people. That’s if you can even get to the rink to begin with. The line is insanely long, if you’re time was at 7:10 expect to be “skating” at 7:40, even though you payed for the hour. I usually am a die hard Dodger fan who loves these events, but this was not it.”

For some, the chance to enjoy some winter fun is worth it at any price.

Twitter user Bettszsn applauded:  “Great job @Dodgers for putting this together.  Going back next weekend.”

The Holiday Festival runs through December 31st. Weekday hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and weekend hours are from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
