The newest trend to take over the internet is Trader Joe’s mini tote bags. The cute carries come in blue, red, yellow and green and sell in stores for $2.99 — if you are lucky enough to find one.
Locations in Santa Monica and West Los Angeles have been sold out of the must-have items for over a week. Many customers have turned to E-Bay, where a single bag can set you back by nearly $300. A pack of four (one in each color) was listed at $500.
The bags sold more quickly than the company expected, T.J.’s spokesperson, Nakia Rohde told USA Today. “Before we had the opportunity to promote them in any way, customers across the country found them at their neighborhood Trader Joe’s.”
Rohde said most stores should have a new stock of the totes by summer. She did not indicate if new colors would be produced or if the price would remain the same.
