It was a great week for Santa Monica teams

The 2026 high school football season is nearly over.  With just one more week to go in the regular season, Santa Monica schools are looking particularly strong.  And Palisades is playing its best ball of the season. Here’s how everything went down.

WEST (TORRANCE) WARRIORS 7 @ SAMOHI VIKINGS 42

The Santa Monica High Vikings sent their seniors out in style Friday night, putting on a clinic in a 42-7 beatdown of West (Torrance) for their final regular-season home game.

After West Torrance struck first on a 38-yard touchdown run, Maxwell Ojara immediately answered back for Samohi, taking the kickoff 75 yards to the house to knot things at 7-7. From there, quarterback Gryffin Glowacki took total control. Glowacki aired out three touchdown passes on the night—connecting twice with Ryan Blake on 45-yard and 36-yard strikes, and dialing up a 5-yard scoring pass to Chandler Paysinger in the fourth quarter.

Joshua Fernandez punched in a 4-yard goal-line touchdown in the third quarter following a series of long runs by Saul Buendia, extending the blowout. Meanwhile, the Viking defense clamped down after the early score, led by a sack from Jarrell Davis-Dill and a late fourth-quarter interception by Sterling Inatsugu to slam the door.

Kicker Grey Broderick was automatic on the night, converting all six extra point attempts. With the dominant victory, Samohi pushes their record to 6-3 as momentum builds heading into next week’s regular-season finale at Century.

Up Next: The Vikings will close out the regular season with an away game at Century City.

ST. MONICA PREP 47 @ ST. GENEVIEVE 13

The St. Monica Mariners extended their hot streak Friday night, dominating St. Genevieve 47-13 on the road in Panorama City.

Sergio Ortiz delivered a legendary backfield performance, finding the end zone four separate times on the ground. Ortiz opened the scoring with a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter before exploding in the second with touchdown runs of 3 yards, 34 yards, and 7 yards to give the Mariners a insurmountable 33-0 lead at the break.

The Mariners’ defense was equally opportunistic before halftime, as Dequan Carter scooped up a fumble for a 3-yard return touchdown and recovered a second fumble on the very next drive to set up Ortiz’s fourth score.

Jade Mayes added a 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and quarterback Cal Foxson capped the blowout in the fourth with a 29-yard touchdown strike to Logan Osbourne. Kicker Andres Olmedo converted five extra points to keep the Valiants in deep water.

With the victory, St. Monica improves to 7-2 on the season as they hit the final stretch with serious league title ambitions.

Up Next: St. Monica Prep travels to Plays del Rey on October 30 to take on St. Bernard in the final game of the regular season.

PALISADES 49 @ FAIRFAX 35

In a high-scoring Western League prizefight, Palisades held off a furious Fairfax rally to earn a hard-fought 49-35 road victory Friday night.

Quarterback Robert Holohan III put on a clinic, tossing four touchdown passes and scrambling for key yards to direct the Dolphins’ balanced attack. Holohan connected with Jesse Wolfson for two scoring strikes, hit Malachi Ross for another, and found Aiden Gecovich to ice the game late in the fourth quarter. On the ground, Jameson Della-Bella punched in two touchdowns, while Aiden Jones added a rushing score of his own.

Fairfax stayed alive behind senior Tru Warrior Casas, who broke loose for four rushing touchdowns—including explosive second-half scoring runs of 50 and 80 yards. Each time the Lions pulled within one score, Palisades answered back with composed, clinical drives.

Up 42-35 in the fourth, the Dolphins put together a game-clinching 78-yard drive capped by Holohan’s 7-yard TD pass to Gecovich. Freshman Michael Brown recovered a Fairfax fumble on the ensuing kickoff to slam the door.

Palisades improves to 5-3 overall and stays perfect in Western League play at 4-0.

Up Next: The Dolphins look to close out the regular season on a high note when they host the winless Westchester Comets on October 30.
