The Corsair Track and Field at Santa Monica College will be closed to students and the public through April for major renovations and upgrades.
Construction — which includes resurfacing of the track, regrading of the synthetic field and installation of a new electronic scoreboard — is slated to begin on December 1.
“Throughout the project, the track and field will be unavailable for internal/college athletic programs’ use and is also unavailable to the public,” the school said in a prepared news release.
The upgrades are being funded largely by bond Measure AA, which passed in 2008.
