An adult male remains in stable condition after being stabbed by a 17 year-old girl.
The scary altercation unfolded just before midnight Tuesday near the intersection of 5th Street and Broadway.
“Comments of the call indicated a suspect stabbed a victim and fled the scene,” Santa Monica Police Lt. Rudy Flores said.
“Multiple units and a forensics team were dispatched to the call with the first officers on scene requesting the Santa Monica Fire Department respond for medical assistance. The victim was alert, although stabbed multiple times, and was able to provide a description of the suspect.”
It is unclear if the suspect and victim knew each other or what provoked the attack.
According to Flores, the pair are not related and neither is believed to be homeless.
The suspect was located a few blocks away and taken into custody. She was transported to a juvenile detention center and charged with attempted murder.
No booking photo has been released as the suspect is a minor.
Anyone witnessing the incident or able to provide more information is encouraged to reach out to the SMPD.
