The worst type of arsonist is on the loose in Santa Monica.
Police are looking for a male suspect, who set a homeless man on fire Saturday night in Ozone Park (727 Ozone Street) near the border of Venice.
The incident took place around 11:35 p.m. as the victim was sleeping.

SMPD says an unknown individual — approximately 5’6” – 5’8”, medium build, wearing a hat, long-sleeved white shirt and dark shorts — approached the victim, doused him with an unknown liquid accelerant and set him on fire.
The victim, who has not been identified, suffered burns over 50% of his body. He also received a two Ince laceration to the top part of his head, possibly from blunt force trauma.
It is unclear if the victim and the suspect knew each other.
The attack comes just two days after Santa Monica made national news when a woman missing from Fresno allegedly assaulted former Survivor contestant Michelle Yi with a metal rod.
Anyone who may have information about this case is asked to contact SMPD.
