Costco is putting a squeeze on the Charmin.

The members-only warehouse store has once again placed purchase limits on toilet paper and other essential household items, including bottled water, paper towels and cleaning products.

During a conference call with reporters Thursday, Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti said the company is dealing with supply chain issues related to the Delta variant, shipping delays and a shortage of truck drivers.

“A year ago there was a shortage of merchandise,” he said. “Now they’ve got plenty of merchandise but there’s two- or three-week delays on getting it delivered because there’s a limit on short-term changes to trucking and delivery needs of the suppliers, so it really is all over the board.”

The company did not specify how many of each item customers woudl be able to purchase.

Earlier this month, Procter & Gamble — the largest manufacturer of toilet paper and paper towels – announced it would be ramping up production in an effort to offset increased demand.
