A good slice is hard to find, but Santa Monicans have been lining up to get their fix at Vito’s since 2017.

A Southern California staple, Vito’s also operates outposts in Downtown Los Angeles (814 N. Vermont St.) and Melrose (846 N. La Cienega Blvd.).   The recently updated Santa Monica location includes a full bar and multiple large screen television — ideal for watching the big game.

Behind the whole operation is Vito Di Donato, a larger-than-life East Coast transplant who came to Los Angeles when his brother decided to pursue acting.  Vito brought with him the recipes for dough and sauce that fuel his business.  He often jokes that over the years, people have stalked, robbed and even shot at him to get their hands on the top secret formula.
