Inside the historic Central Tower building on 4th Street — a local landmark dating back to 1929—something impossible is happening almost every night. Illusion Magic Lounge isn’t just a theater; it’s a resurrection. “We want to be the place where you can forget your troubles for a few hours,” owner Randy Sinnott says. “You walk in and you’re in a different world.”
The venue’s magical story dates all the way back to 1998 when legendary magician Steve Spill first opened the doors as Magicopolis. It became was a staple of Santa Monica nightlife for decades. When Spill decided to retire from stage life, he handed the reins over to Sinnott, an attorney and former United States Marine Corps colonel who previously served as president of the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.
Illusion Magic Lounge is now a “sip and see” destination that offers the exclusivity of the Magic Castle with the accessibility of a neighborhood lounge. Guests enjoy close-up magic at their tables before moving into the 150-seat theater to watch acts featured on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and America’s Got Talent.
