Arrivederci, Guidos!
Another iconic westside staple is being pushed out to make room for development of (yes, more!) “affordable” apartments.
“Guido’s regrets to inform you that we will be ceasing operations on Mother’s Day, May 11th, 2025,” the restaurant posted on its website this week. A “going away” party, complete with DJ and special menu is planned for the evening before.
Best known for its northern Italian cuisine, tuxedo clad wait staff, cozy fireplace and striking red booths, Guido’s has been a fixture on Santa Monica Boulevard since 1979.
The restaurant is located about two and a half miles from where a controversial housing facility for the homeless was built after being approved by the LA City Council in 2023.
Feeling nostalgic for one last plate of pasta and red sauce? Guido’s is currently taking reservations on its website.
