Disney magic meets World Cup fever on Saturday, July 11 when the Marina del Rey 2026 Summer Concert Series kicks off at Burton Chace Park.
The unique billing pairs a high-stakes televised match between England and Norway at 2 p.m. with the Marina del Rey Symphony performing Disney’s Encanto live-to-film at 7 p.m..
“It is the first time we are combining two separate events,” says Lucie Kim of the Department of Beaches and Harbors. “Because the World Cup is international, we want to engage and promote to audiences who might not normally come out to the Marina for a symphonic concert.”
And they are anticipating a massive turnout. Last year, the series broke records when more than 2,000 people packed the waterfront park for a live-to-film performance of Disney-Pixar’s Coco. With Encanto on deck, county officials expect to mirror or even shatter that record.
Even better for Westside locals: the entire multi-week series — which features upcoming acts like Los Lobos, Tyrese, and D Smoke — is completely free to the public. Funding, Kim tells The Sun, is generated entirely by the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) collected from local hotel tourists.
Attendees are encouraged to pre-reserve tickets via Eventbrite; however, admission is still on a first-come basis.
“Our department’s mission and motto is ‘Caring for our Coast,'” Kim says. “The county owns Marina del Rey, meaning it is a public marina. We want everyone in LA County — our 10 million residents — to feel like it’s their marina.”
📌 Know Before You Go: Insider Tips & Hard Rules
If you are heading down to the Marina this weekend, here is what you need to know to survive the gridlock and secure a spot:
- The Food Situation –– The 5 Elementos food truck will begin serving at 5:00 p.m. to match the Encanto theme. (Pro tip: Skip the inevitable lines by pre-ordering your meal online.)
- Seating Deadlines –– The 10-acre park opens at 6:00 a.m. for early blankets, but absolutely no setups are allowed in front of the stage before 3:00 p.m. Space is first-come, first-served using low-back chairs and blankets only.
- The “No” List: Burton Chace Park has a long list of rules. The park is strictly smoke and alcohol-free. Also, leave the glass containers, umbrellas, canopies, and booze at home. Security will be checking.
- Beat the Parking Gridlock: Heavy traffic is expected before and after the event. Event organizers recommend bringing cash for faster lot entry. The best lots to target to avoid bottlenecks are:
- Marina Lot #2 (13477 Fiji Way) – $10
- Marina Tower (4610 Lincoln Blvd. or 4640 Admiralty Way) – $13
- Marina Lot #1 (13723 Fiji Way) – $2 to $8
