We’re here, yellow tier!
Los Angeles County and its 10 million residents will officially move into the least restrictive of the California’s four colored tiers on Thursday, paving the way for more restrictions to be lifted and almost all business to reopen.
That means:
- Fitness centers, wineries, breweries and card rooms can increase indoor attendance to 50% of legal capacity (currently 25%)
- Bars that do not serve food can open indoors at 25% capacity.
- Large outdoor venues, including Dodger Stadium, can increase capacity to 67% (currently 33%)
- Amusement parks — including Disneyland, Magic Mountain and Pacific Park at the Santa Monica Pier — can permit up to 35% capacity (currently 25%)
San Francisco and Trinity counties will also move to the yellow tier. Orange, Ventura and Riverside are among the 39 counties remaining in the orange tier.
Los Angeles County — once the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic — has made a miraculous comeback since December, when the number of new daily cases exceeded 33,000.
On May 3, the county recorded just 255 new infections, approximately 1.6 per 100,000 residents.
No COVID-related deaths were reported on Sunday or Monday.
