An official count of the homeless population has officially begun in Los Angeles County.
Approximately 6,000 volunteers hit the streets over a three day period this week in an effort to guauge exactly how desperate the problem has become.
The 2023 tally found 75,500 people unhoused in the county including 46,200 in the city of Los Angeles and 926 in the city of Santa Monica.
Results of the 2024 count will be released in late spring.
