There’s a fun new update to go along with the fancy, new iPhone 16 that was released this week. According to Apple, users in California can now add their drivers license of state-issued ID card to their electronic wallet.
The process is quick and requires users to upload a selfie and a photo of the front and back of their physical ID card. After verification from the Department of Motor Vehicles, it will be available for use.
“With this new integration, we’re working to better serve the people of California in the 21st century,” California Governor Gavin Newsom said in a press release issued by the company.
Apple Wallet integration is currently available in Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland and Ohio. Several other states will begin adopting the technology soon.
It is important to note, of course, that by law drivers are still required to carry their physical cards while operating a motor vehicle.
