About 20 teachers and staff members were evacuated from Lincoln Middle School on Monday afternoon after Santa Monica Police were notified of a bomb threat on campus.
Parents and neighbors were notified by the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District via email.
No students were on campus at the time as all 1100 6th through 8th graders are engaged in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Ben Drati, Superintendent of the SMMUSD, confirmed the threat was emailed to Lincoln Middle School personnel just before 1:00 p.m. and immediately reported to the police.
The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) and Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD) responded to the incident and cleared the threat by 2:30 p.m.
“The Santa Monica Police Department has thoroughly investigated the threat described below and given the “all clear,” Drati wrote in a follow up email to families and community members at 3:43 p.m.
SMPD Lieutenant Rudy Flores said a walk-through of the entire campus did not turn up any suspicious items or devices.
