The Big Blue Bus is offering free rides for 30 days as part of a new pilot program.
But there’s a catch…
In order to ride at no charge, customers must activate a TAP Card or purchase mobile tickets through the Transit App.
There is limit of one 30 day pass per person. Rides may be be redeemed today through July 15.

BBB is also knocking down fares for customers paying with TAP of mobile tickets.
Seniors, the disabled and medicare recipients can ride for just 40 cents. Everyone else pays $1.
“To encourage customers to try TAP or mobile ticketing, Big Blue Bus is offering a free 30 Day pass and discounted Single Rides,” Ed King, Director of the Santa Monica Department of Transportation, said in a prepared statement this morning.
“By trying these options, we hope that customers experience the tangible benefits of contactless fares, including how convenient and economical these choices can be.”
It is hoped that contactless payment will reduce boarding times and therefore provide a more efficient and faster trip, the release said.
