A graduate of Santa Monica High School is one of the newest cast members on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

Jane Wickline — who graduated in 2018 and went on to attend Oberlin College in Cleveland — will join NBC’s late night sketch comedy show when it returns for its 50th season on September 28.  Comedians Ashley Padilla and Emil Wakim will also debut as featured players.

Wickline is not the first Samohi graduate to appear on SNL.  Robert Downey Jr. — who is also the only former cast member to win an Academy Award — appeared during the 1984-85 season.

The Santa Monica Daily Press reports that Wickline, 25, played jazz trumpet and piano in the school’s band.  “[She was a] very quiet, very cerebral kind of kid, not someone that was extroverted or someone you would think would be on a Saturday Night Live cast,” Performing Arts Coordinator Tom Whaley told the paper.

At Oberlin, Wickline served as editor of The Grape, a campus humor magazine.  She later went on to become a social media star with over one million followers on TikTok.  Her online sketch show STAPLEVIEW has been referred to as TikTok’s version of SNL.
