Shots were fired outside a Santa Monica liquor store, leading to an arrest on Friday the 13th.

Santa Monica Police were called to investigate a shooting at Eddie’s Liquor at the intersection of 20th Street and Pico Boulevard just after 9:45 PM.

Minutes earlier, a confrontation broke out in the parking lot between Jesus Manuel Macias, 36, and an unidentified victim.

Macias’ female companion, 26 year-old Lucero Campos, allegedly retrieved a handgun from their car and gave it to Macias.

“Macias fired multiple rounds at the victim, missing both times, and both Macias and Lucero fled the scene,” according to SMPD Lieutenant Rudy Flores.

An additional adult female passenger, three minors and a loaded 9mm handgun were also found inside the vehicle.

Macias was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, carrying loaded firearm in public, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and child endangerment.

Campos is also facing charges of child endangerment, as well as carrying a loaded firearm and aiding and abetting.

Both individuals are from El Monte.

This is not the first time shots have been fired near the south side business.

In November 2018, a gunmen opened fire on the occupants of an SUV in the parking lot, striking one occupant.
