This three-generation family-owned restaurant has been providing homemade deli specialties for nearly 60 years. Arnie Fromin started The Encino Deli in 1962, while his son Dennis was just 20 years old, after moving to California. Dennis took over the family firm a few years later, and in 1977 he wanted to expand by looking for a new location in Encino as well as a second branch in Santa Monica.

Both restaurants were an instant success thanks to hard effort, outstanding hiring, and a focus on high-quality food. Dennis has been spreading the same principles of customer service and outstanding food with all employees, some of whom have been there when the doors opened in December 1978. Dennis’s son-in-law Bruce (married to his daughter Lorin) and daughter-in-law Cynthia (married to his son Troy, who also works at the deli) joined the Santa Monica store in 2018 to carry on the Fromin legacy.
